Miss India Tripura 2017 Rinky Chakma Passes Away at 28 Following Courageous Cancer Fight

Rinky Chakma, the title holder of Miss India Tripura 2017, passed away at the age of 28 after bravely confronting cancer. Despite her determined battle against the disease over the last two years, she eventually succumbed to its challenges.

Rinky’s struggle began in 2022 when she was diagnosed with a malignant Phyllodes Tumor (breast cancer), leading to surgery. Unfortunately, the cancer spread to her lungs and progressed to her head, resulting in a brain tumor. Despite undergoing treatments, including chemotherapy, her health deteriorated, and she was unable to continue the treatment, as reported by Femina.

In critical condition, Rinky Chakma was admitted to Max Hospital Saket on February 22, with one of her lungs almost non-functional. The former beauty queen had earlier reached out on Instagram, sharing her cancer journey and financial struggles for treatment. She expressed that her family had been facing difficulties for the past two years, and with depleted savings, she sought donations to continue her treatment.

Rinky, who won the Miss India Tripura crown in 2017 and secured sub-titles Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose, fought valiantly until the end. Her legacy includes her participation as a Miss India finalist in the same year that Manushi Chhillar won both the Miss World pageant and the Miss India World pageant.
